My son, Sgt Joshua Cope (retired) is my
Hero, so is his wife Erica. They have
turned
tragedy into triumph. It has not been an easy journey...
they have chosen to persevere amidst unimaginable hardships...
their lives are an inspiration to all.
On November 13, 2006 Joshua was
severely wounded by an IED blast in Bagdad, Iraq. He lost both
of his legs above the knee and both of his hands were injured.
As a mom, watching my son, I have witnessed the tenacity of the
American Soldier.
I have seen the love and compassion of his wife Erica.
...When a soldier goes to war, a
family goes to war ... Lest We Forget ...
There are so many heroes in this
great nation, so many families we can encourage. My vision as
a mom, is to bring wounded soldiers and their families to Panama
City Beach for an extended weekend of Rest and Relaxation.
This retreat will be a time that can give them hope to carry on ...
a feeling that their sacrifice was not in vain... a knowing
that we as a nation are truly grateful for their service and
sacrifice. I call it the "Warrior Beach Retreat".
My desire is that our
community will be the "model" for the nation. Our community
has donated hotel and condo rooms, meals from restaurants, cakes,
gift baskets, fishing trips, movies, tours, attractions tickets,
money, etc. to show their love and appreciation for the sacrifices
these soldiers have made.
My vision is to see communities
from all over the USA come together to host military soldiers and
their families affected by this war.
Let us all come together to bring
hope and healing to so many heroes and their families. We all
have something to give. We can make a difference ...together.
